The Purpose of the MU is to be especially concerned with all that

strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family life.

The aim of the Mothers’ Union is the advancement of the Christian religion

in the sphere of marriage and family life.  

In order to carry out its Aim, its Objects are:

        To uphold Christ’s teaching on the nature of marriage and promote its wider understanding.

        To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church.

        To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service.

        To promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children.

        To help those whose family life has met with adversity.

Anyone can join the Mothers’ Union; men, women and children who have been baptised.  We  aim to ‘turn darkness into light’  by assisting the Mothers’ Union to spend wisely where the need is greatest.   We raise money throughout the year by running various activities as the need arises.We give our share of the money raised to support the work of the Mothers’ Union:  including Away From It All, The Wheels Appeal, Mary Sumner House, Diocesan Fund; Cook Books for Students at the University in Ipswich; Action and Outreach; The Literacy Project; etc.

Members serve the church and wider community in a variety of ways. Taking part in children's work,  singing in the choir, Jubilee Lunch Club, promoting Fairtrade purchases and more.
